Warranty claim rejected? Here’s what to check before you accept it
A rejected warranty claim can feel final, but it usually isn’t the end of the conversation. Manufacturers and dealers reject claims for a range of reasons, and not all of them hold up to scrutiny.
Common rejection reasons — and how valid they usually are
- “Wear and tear” — sometimes accurate, but often used broadly for parts that failed prematurely and should still be covered.
- “Non-genuine parts used previously” — only relevant if that specific part is linked to the current failure.
- “Missed a service interval” — valid if the gap genuinely caused the fault, less valid if it’s unrelated.
- “Consequential damage” — needs a clear technical link between the original issue and the new failure, not just an assumption.
What actually helps your case
Keep every service record, even for minor top-ups. Ask for the rejection reason in writing, not just verbally. And request the specific technical basis for the rejection — a vague explanation is often a sign it’s worth escalating.
If your claim has been turned down, send us the rejection letter and your service history on WhatsApp. We’ll tell you honestly whether it’s worth pushing back, and help you build the case if it is.
